Shakespeare meets Twitter

Last Wednesday, June 12, 2013, Professor Keri Behre’s Shakespeare class completed their final exam. And this wasn’t any ordinary exam. The students performed the third act of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. On Twitter.

The students were encouraged by Behre to make the bard’s words their own. Improv. Summarize. Translate into 21st century language. (Smartphone apps make an appearance!) The result? A clever reinterpretation of a classic text, performed in real-time with the use of social technology. We think Shakespeare would have immensely enjoyed this digital improv. And Baz Luhrmann just might be nodding in approval.
