I am delighted to invite you -with your Religious Studies Mentor Team – to a free ministry workshop focusing on Canine Companion Assisted Ministries.
Monday February 4th at 6:30 pm in Villa Maria’s Hemlock Room join us with our Marylhurst alum Dr. Jerilyn Felton. Dr. Jerilyn has earned both our MAIS and our MAAT degrees and completed her Doctorate of Ministry from George Fox. Jerilyn is model alum who shares her love of Marylhurst with all whom she meets.
The Four-Footed Ministers Pastoral-Care Program is a preliminarily “road-tested” structure that was developed at Maryville Nursing Home, Beaverton, Oregon in 2010-2011. The program was the result of a nine-month research project where Dr. Felton, with the assistance of her ministry partners, Sister Josephine Pelster, SSMO and Ms. Barbara Miller, developed a safe, effective, and repeatable structure for using dogs to facilitate spiritual/pastoral-care interventions.
Your Mentor Team and I look forward to this opportunity.
PS: Dr. Felton has a limited number of internships for practicum projects for Summer 2013. Please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org by May 15, 2013 as space is limited. For more information, please visit her website Four-Footed Ministers.
