This post begins an exciting new offering of the Marylhurst Center for Servant Leadership. Working in partnership with Marylhurst alumna, Cathy Bennett, creator of the Cathy Bennett Show on Blog Talk Radio, the Center has recorded a series of podcasts discussing servant leadership from the various perspectives of a number of thought leaders who attended the 2012 Pacific Northwest Conference on Servant Leadership last March. We hope you enjoy what you hear and, of course, we would love to have you attend the 2013 Pacific Northwest Conference on Servant Leadership later this year.
This week on the Cathy Bennett Show, Cathy discusses the need of Servant Leadership practices within the public sector with John Hanson, Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer of the Delaware River Port Authority. John‘s recent article In Government Finance Review, regarding the need to shift focus within the public sector, stated “to survive and succeed in these difficult economic times, government leaders and their employees must work together to replace the old-fashioned public servant paradigm with a business model that is aligned with the realities of current business conditions and constituent expectations. Take a listen as Cathy talks with John about the necessity of applying Servant Leadership practices to public sector enterprises.
