The Marylhurst University Center for Servant Leadership is excited to begin the new year with a brand new blog interface! We are happy to offer you all of our servant leaderships posts, conversations, and podcasts in a user-friendly format, designed to serve you and your servant-leader needs. We are excited to continue exploring servant leadership concepts, values, and practices this year on our new site. We welcome your insight and feedback, and look forward to learning and being led along-side you on this servant leadership journey.

As we begin the new year and contemplate making personal and professional resolutions, let’s keep aspiring to be better servant-leaders. Let’s keep working to help other’s realize their individual greatness and discover strength within their communities. Let’s also keep working on being willing to listen and be open to honest feedback, even when it’s not easy to hear. As Shawn Murphy says in his post 10 Actions of Servant Leaders, we are to “to inspire confidence in the face of ambiguity, darkness” and “brighten an already bright work culture.” Servant-leaders have faith in the good of humanity, and believe in people’s ability to achieve and succeed. As we begin the new year, let’s take a moment to tune out the financial chatter and focus on the needs of the individual. Let’s aspire to become better listeners with open minds and ready hearts. Let’s devote this year to serving-first and leading through our service to others.

Happy new year servant-leaders, and best wishes for wonderful 2013!

What do you aspire to improve or achieve this year? Do you have any suggestions for our new site, or any blog post requests?
