“As the divine light grows brighter, it reveals what it contains, that is, divine life; and divine life reveals that the Ultimate Reality is love.”
– Thomas Keating, The Mystery of Christ
For many, the return and beginning of a new year marks a time of renewal. This renewal is one of hope. Hope in the future through self-improvement and intentional planning which will unfold during the weeks and months to come.
At the same time, the celebration of Jesus’ birth, at the start of Christmas, and culminating with the Feast of Epiphany, reminds us that the hope that has been revealed, renewed and presented in the world – once again – is love.
If we have created resolutions for the new year, how are they informed by love? Or do they still reflect vestiges of last year’s self-judgements and recriminations.
I invite all of us to find ways to renew our sense of love. Love of ourselves and especially love of our neighbors. If we are willing to renew our sense of love, then we embrace the Love of the True Self that resides within us all.
May the light that is within you shine brightly this new year! Kathleen
